The City of Eden is governed by a Council-Manager form of government which includes a Mayor and seven Council Members. The Mayor and City Council serve for a term of four years. The Mayor is the presiding officer and does not vote unless the vote is tied. In the absence or disability of the Mayor, the Mayor Pro Tempore (a Council Member) is selected from its members and performs the Mayoral duties.

The Council sets and directs policies and the City Manager is the Chief Executive Officer of the City and is responsible for the execution of those policies.

Regular city elections are held on Tuesday after the first Monday in November every two years.
